About the Role
Ideate Design-Build (iD8) is seeking a skilled laborer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded experience in all construction trades, with an emphasis on carpentry and waterproofing. A strong work ethic, and the ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment is required. As a skilled laborer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks that require specialized skills to ensure the successful completion of construction projects. You will often work in occupied spaces within multi-family communities, where planning, communication, and sensitivity to homeowners impacted by construction activities are essential.
Position Type
This is a full-time position.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites, including (but not limited to) site preparation, controlled demolition, carpentry, waterproofing, painting, masonry, concrete, removing and reinstalling doors, stucco, drywall, welding, etc.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship and quality in all tasks performed.
- Manage time to complete efficiently and within the provided budget from the Superintendent.
- Operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
- Clean and prepare construction sites, including removing debris and possible hazards.
- Load and unload construction materials and move materials to work areas.
- Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
- Follow building plans to meet the needs of clients.
- Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, and trim.
- Assist with heavy equipment operation, as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report violations immediately to management.
- Maintain a clean and safe job site and ensure that all tools and equipment are properly cleaned and stored.
- Identify and resolve construction-related problems or obstacles promptly and efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other tradespeople.
- Plan and coordinate work activities to minimize disruption to residents in occupied multi-family communities.
- Upload daily logs, photos, and receipts into the project management system.
- Exercise sensitivity and professionalism when interacting with homeowners and residents affected by construction activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Experience and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in a skilled trade (e.g., welding, carpentry, electrical, plumbing) is required.
- Proven experience as a skilled construction laborer.
- Proficiency in operating construction equipment and power tools.
- Knowledge of construction safety protocols and practices.
- Physical strength and stamina to perform strenuous tasks.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
Physical Requirements
- The role may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- May require lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.

Compensation
- $35-$50/hour
