Construction Superintendent

About the Role


The Construction Superintendent is a professional who helps manage projects and ensures everything runs smoothly. They assess the resources needed for each assignment and work with the Project Manager on the overall project budget. The Superintendent ensures projects are delivered on time and on budget. They collaborate with engineers and subcontractors to manage the project needs and oversee staff performance. Construction Superintendents monitor projects from planning to completion, including tasks such as budgeting and scheduling. They follow quality standards and ensure the safety and security of the construction site. A construction superintendent also communicates and negotiates with external partners, such as vendors and contractors. It is the Superintendent’s responsibility to ensure value in the construction services we provide and that the construction team performs the work correctly. The Construction Superintendent reports to the Project Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safety
  • Hold, record, and file weekly safety meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain an understanding of OSHA laws and regulations.
  • Ensure that tools and equipment are sound and in good working order. If tools require maintenance and repair, ensure tool issues are addressed immediately.
  • Addresses any safety violations or other deficiencies.
  • Communicates and enforces safety procedures and site rules with the field team and subcontractors.
  • Resolve on-site issues and emergencies and report to the appropriate team member.
  • Ensure all iD8 field personnel wear the iD8 uniform and all subcontractors wear an iD8 safety vest.
  • Ensure the job site remains safe, clean, and orderly
  • Quality
  • Attend pre-construction meetings with the project team and help plan the construction process.
  • Study the scope of work and contract documents with the Project Manager before the Pre-Construction meeting.
  • Ensure that the jurisdictional requirements are met on each project.
  • Review, maintain, and enforce the scope of work, schedule, and budget created by the Project Manager, with all construction personnel, including subcontractors.
  • Produce daily reports, photos, and logs and provide them to the Project Manager.
  • Attending site meetings scheduled by the Project Manager.
  • Generate project punch lists with the Project Manager and ensure they get completed by the appropriate party.
  • Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness; prepares and provides progress reports to the Project Manager; recommends necessary modifications.
  • Assist the Project Manager in ensuring the specifications and regulations outlined in the approved architectural and engineering plans are followed.
  • Maintains required permits and licenses onsite
  • Carry out construction contracts according to the terms of the agreement managed by the Project Manager.
  • In collaboration with the Project Manager, plan inspections with the jurisdictional authorities and communicate/coordinate the status with the Project Manager.
  • Schedule
  • Approve timecards and requests for time off and update the information in the timekeeping application, as requested.
  • Prepares and coordinates labor schedules and assignments with collaboration from the Project Manager.
  • Manage daily labor schedule and assignments to ensure the schedule, assignments, and work quality are met or exceeded.
  • Generate three-week outlook schedules on a weekly basis with the Project Manager's input.
  • Report changes that impact on the project schedule to the Project Manager.
  • Participate in weekly project meetings with the Project Manager.
  • Cost
  • Collect weekly purchase logs and receipts and turn them in to the Project Manager.
  • Report changes to the Project Manager that impact cost.
  • Collaborates with other staff to create pre-construction estimates and budgets for materials and labor.
  • Monitors budget throughout the project with the Project Manager and communicates variances as they occur.
  • Maintains updated tool inventory in the warehouse and/or job sites. inventory.
  • Keep track of material stock and communicate with the Project Manager when reordering is necessary.
  • Communication
  • Mentor field team and support career growth, leadership, learning, and training.
  • Post construction notices to residents with direction from the Project Manager.
  • Onsite homeowner/resident communication and customer service.
  • Provide direction to the field team and job site personnel daily.
  • Report project safety, cost, schedule, and quality issues to the Project Manager.
  • Grow the subcontractor and vendor database by bringing in new contacts. Build and maintain sub-relationships.
  • Interview and hire field team with support from Human Resources and the Director of Construction.
  • Collaborates with subcontractors and vendors to answer questions and clarify procedures.
  • Takes appropriate disciplinary action with the field team as needed/requested.
  • With collaboration and coordination with the Project Manager, Director of Construction, and HR, perform recurring reviews of the field team to support individual career growth and clarify responsibilities.
  • Mentoring and training iD8 employees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Computer experience and software knowledge using Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Suite.

Compensation

  • $90,000- 110,000
Education and Experience

  • At least 15 years of experience in the building industry is required.
  • Must be OSHA 30 certified.
Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to access and navigate all construction site areas in all types of weather.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to climb, sit, stand, and drive for long periods of time.
